Wedding home stretch

Our wedding planning is hitting the home stretch. If you ever want a good way to wreck your budget, then try planning a wedding. It's a budget killer. Everyone wants their big day to be special. Every girl grows up with an idea of what she wants her big day to be like. Some go the Cinderella route while others opt for the 'get it done' path.

The thing is that every special occasion or event has to occur within the framework of financial parameters. I believe that staying within those parameters is the best way to lower the stress for everyone.

A few months ago I created a budget and forwarded it to the bride. I tried to include every imaginable detail from the pastor to the extension cords. No one was fully happy with the budget but it gave us a starting point for the myriad of negotiations to come. (Do you know how hard it is to find a gilded carriage and white horses these days?)

I am not sure how all of this will work out but the finish line is in sight. My hope is that my daughter has a beautiful wedding and for two hours of good weather that day. We'll see how it goes.

  1. Planning our daughter's wedding was absolutely one of the most stressful times in my life. I won't go into details....but I was so glad when it was all over with. I turned out beautiful...but, yes, on a very....VERY limited budget!!!
