Getting through the Christmas season without incurring more debt was a
challenge. I am proud (and relieved) to say that we made it. Taking
advantage of online and offline sales made the difference. But nothing
helped more than taking a careful evaluation of potential gifts ahead of
time.
This enabled us to take advantage of the store sales and combine them with coupons.
Using
sites like Restaurant.com and Groupon enabled us to give a gift of
scuba lessons and lunch out to family members. They were thrilled! My
husband and I were happy that we could afford such a unique outing.
We
also hit my Zazzle store and snagged some really neat things at a great
price. Signing up for the email alerts allowed us to take advantage of
some pretty deep discounts on personalized items. In several instances,
we were able to purchase items less expensively through Zazzle than we
could locally.
Using the daily deals sites and
watching for Zazzle sales are definitely in my future plans. This plan
isn't just good for the holiday season. There are always birthdays,
weddings, anniversaries and "thinking of you" gifts to be purchased. I
can't wait to be able to give my friends and family nice gifts without
incurring debt. I definitely learned that a little bit of planning is all it takes.
