New Couponing skills put coupons to work for me

Well, I have to say that my new couponing skills are putting coupons to work for me. Hubby and I left the grocery store today with a shopping cart full of groceries. Our grand total with tax was $100.70. It was a great feeling to realize the receipt said that we saved $84.00 with discounts and coupons.

For the $100 we were able to buy two turkeys, two bags of chicken, gravy and other fixings for our Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. We also bought oil, vegetables and other items that we will use within a reasonable length of time.

The trick to my new couponing skills is staying organized and watching for sales. Most of the items that we purchased today were on sale for buy-one-get-one-free. The combination made up the most that I've saved on one grocery bill so far.

Using coupons allows me to buy more items at once than I normally would be able to afford. My trips to the grocery store are reduced. Thus, my savings with coupons are actually higher than the percentages shown. All of this helps when you are trying to get out of debt.

I'm very excited about the savings. Plus, it's nice to know that the purchasing for two major holiday meals is almost complete. My new couponing skills are taking some of the financial stress off. That really makes coupons work for me.
