The wedding is killing our budget plans

The wedding budget killers are overwhelming. They said that the devil is in the details and I am finding that to be true. Some things are only a few dollars away from the budgeted goal. (For example, the invitations were only $25 over what we planned to give our daughter.) However; when the overruns appear on almost every line item it is time to cut back.

Hubby and I want to give our daughter the wedding that she wants but, we wanted to do it within reason. Our reasoning isn't matching up with the bride's reasoning but I'm hearing that our situation is often the case. This cheers me up.

We're going to continue to work to give our daughter a magnificent wedding and have set a new budget. It's expanded, but we hope that it will be a good compromise. Our goal is to get through this without taking out a loan. I've never understood that, still don't and won't do it.

So, we'll see how this goes. Have you experienced a wedding budget explosion? If so, how did you deal with it? Let us know in the comments section.

  1. Good work on trying to keep costs under control. Amazingly, in our situation, it was the parents who wanted more and better, and not us. Go figure!
