What to do if you forget the Sunday paper coupons

Sunday is coupon day so naturally I forgot to buy a newspaper. Our local paper carries them on Wednesday but the packet is usually nothing like what the larger cities have on Sunday. To maximize saving potential I make it a point to try to get papers on both days.

So, what do you do if you forgot the Sunday paper coupons. Don't despair. There are a couple of things that you can try that may help.

The first is to ask your friends if they have any Sunday paper coupons. I am constantly surprised at who doesn't use them. Asking around also lets you know who to speak with if you ever need extra coupons.

Check with a convenience store and newspaper box to see if any papers are still available. Go early. Getting there after the newspapers are restocked for the day won't do any good.

Another thing that you can do if you forget the Sunday coupons is go to the newspaper. Twice I've been able to get extra coupons for free by doing this. If you can, don't call just go. It seems that the people with the papers are on the front desk. The person answering the phones may not know if any Sunday coupons left or not.

If you forget the Sunday paper coupons and none of the above works you may be out of luck. I'm sticking a post-it note reminder on the refrigerator. It's not a foolproof reminder system but it's better than nothing. :-)
